I adored this session so much! Marymere Falls was gorgeous-this patch of heaven was so worth the long drive! Our hike to the Falls included a lovely little field of Forget Me Not's, acres of trees and all kinds of Northwest plants, a mighty flowing river...it was the perfect backdrop for Adam and Carolyn's engagement session. Thank you so much for the adventure C & A, it was so special for me to capture these beautiful moments with you.

This is one of the most bubbly, caring, not to mention radiant young ladies I have had the privilege of knowing. She and I met last spring working together as barista's, now here she is, graduating next month and about to take off for UW! I seriously could have kept shooting all night, the whole session was just breathtaking! I have loved getting to know you this past year Alyssa, you have a beautiful love for the Lord and a heart as big as the sky, I know that will take you far! Love you, girl!
The weather was so off and on during this maternity shoot. Dark clouds and a slight drizzle threatened a downpour, but a few minutes in to the shoot we were blessed with a break in the clouds and some sunshine. Just proof you don't need a warm, sunny day to take pictures! It's always a gamble working with this northwest climate and I'm so glad I have brave clients who show up to weather these storms with me. J + K were so fun and so full of laughs! The joy and love between them is just so precious, I'm so happy I got to work with these two.
Congratulations J & K, so happy for you both and that I was able to capture this beautiful moment in time for you before little 'R' arrives. Wow. What an incredible evening with these lovers under the beautiful shade of the Grand Forest. Tianna braved the long trail in heels to our destination at the picturesque log bridge. Capturing the journey there was magical, as well as hilarious, you can tell these two love to laugh and be as goofy as possible together. And don't they just look fantastic?! Needless to say, I really enjoyed capturing the joy and romance between them, and I couldn't be more pleased with the final product. Congrats T & D! To all you future brides considering an elopement, it's SO worth it to hike out to a beautiful location to share your vows, and I would love be the one to pack up my camera and capture it all with you!
I have been SO behind on posting!! Just all kinds of crazy transitions happening in my life, and I needed to take a step back and breathe for a bit...but with spring being among us and all this temperamental weather to navigate around, I managed to get a few shoots done to share with you (finally)!
This particular model is my beautiful friend Amanda. She is a sweet soul who carries such a peace with her wherever she goes...I have loved getting to know this gem of a human being a little better this year. She was so brave tromping miles through the Grand Forest in the rain with her sister and I, all in this little number (and high heels!) just to get some lovely shots like this one! I had so much fun with you Amanda, thanks for letting me capture your gorgeous self in this crazy WA weather we deal with. I enjoyed this shoot thoroughly! Such an exciting time for this beautiful little family! I've been working with them since little 'E' was just a few days old, and now they are expecting their second baby girl! We met at the beautiful Alderbrook Resort for the maternity photos and had such a fun time! It rained for a while but thankfully the clouds parted for a bit and we were able to ditch the umbrellas! Even if PNW gives you rain, here's proof you can still make beautiful images. I think my favorites are of mama and daughter in those elegant white dresses...seriously, no woman should get photos of her bump without a maternity gown! This was also my first time assembling a DIY flower crown, I put it together last minute on the way to the resort (the hubby was driving, of course), but it turned out ok and I was pretty stoked about it! All aside, it was so special to be apart of this amazing new milestone in their lives. Thank you Sanchez family, loved spending time with you again!
Annalise & Jeff // Port Townsend Maritime Center // Pacific Northwest Wedding Photographer11/9/2016 I have been so eager to share this blog post with you all. Jeff and Annalise invited their dearest family and friends to witness the sharing of their vows at one of the most beautiful towns in Washington state. The glowing snow-capped mountains, sailboats and old Victorian buildings set the perfect Northwest tone for their big day. Although we had been leery of what the weather would be like, we were blessed with one of the warmest days in October and didn't pop up one umbrella. Capturing their love was such a blissful experience, their joy was contagious and broke through every heart present. It was truly special to be in the midst of the Latta/Johnson family, you could tell they all kept very close and are definitely people who always put family first. Not only was it heart warming hearing all of their fondest memories through the years, but they also really know how to party and aren't afraid to have fun! It was a beautiful day full of laughter, tears, and so much dancing! I can't thank you J & A enough for sharing your special day with me and choosing Eyes Above Photography to highlight all of the memories. It's been such a privilege getting to know the loving, caring, fun couple that you are. Cheers to you both! This was one of the most fun first look's I've done! Jeff and Annalise wrote letters to each other to read before the ceremony. They decided to add something fun to their reveal and read their letters back-to-back before they saw each other! Also set in the courtyard garden of the Bishop Victorian Hotel, this reveal was a beautiful success. A very prevalent part of J & A's wedding was Annalise's love of dancing. In the letter, Jeff included something exciting he had planned for them to do together...dance lessons!! The Alchemy Restaurant & Bar was actually the first place I met these two, we decided to document the nostalgic moment and pop inside for a few quick shots. I keep my cool on the job but in my heart, I'm really an emotional mess when it comes to weddings. This was just about the sweetest part of the ceremony. Annalise vowed to Jeff's 3 girls that she would be a forever loving, faithful, supportive step-momma to them. The tears were so hard to hold back for this one! It was one of those, "Oh, my heart" moments for sure. This made me a leaky bucket for sure. Jeff danced with his three sweet daughters one at a time...such a tender moment!
This was a random 'Let's chase the sunrise down and see what happens' kind of morning. There is something irresistible about all these fall sunrises we've happened to enjoy lately (we almost always get overcast, foggy mornings here in the PNW). Though this idea was spontaneously dreamed up, it was definitely one of those just had to's that I could NOT miss out on. It was a hit and miss adventure for sure, and miraculously, the sun made it's glorious appearance on that fateful daybreak. Dawn's colorful beams lit the beach like fireworks and you could just feel the music of the moment hit every corner of your soul. The marsh was pretty magical too. Thank you Tianna for joining me on this wild adventure and to the owners of this magnificent slice-of-heaven for letting us disrupt the morning routine to get these amazing shots.
This session was doubly, no I'll say triple special for me in so many ways. Mainly because the bride-to-be you see here is my dear friend, Kayla. Kayla has been my boss, my confidant, someone who would laugh at all my quirky (and bad) jokes, AND my wedding planner (who helped give me my dream wedding by the way)!! I still remember so vividly the exciting (sometimes chaotic) days spent serving coffee and running the little Coffee Oasis cafe, dreaming about all of the Pinterest ideas we could think of, sharing dating advice back and forth, laughing about nonsense or sometimes hilarious things her daughter Rooney said and did the night before. Now here we are, both living the marriage season together! Wow. God has blessed us so richly, friend!
And what an incredible shoot this was! The typical northwest weather surrounding us on this beautiful beach was gorgeous on that strangely mild fall morning. The dark clouds were definitely looming over our heads as I spent time capturing the love of these two...thankfully the rain held out most of our time there. During the last chunk of the session though, it did begin to drizzle, then pour, but that didn't stop us from carrying out the fun of our adventure. And the final product...sheer perfection! I have never been happier with engagement photos in all my years as a photographer. And I don't think I've ever captured two people happier to be in love! Thank you so much for trusting me to capture this beautiful time in your lives Kayla and Andrew, it was definitely a session to remember. Congratulations!!! If you are a High School Senior, and you are a guy, I promise you will enjoy having your senior pictures taken! Just because of the stereotype that 'guys don't like pictures' doesn't mean you won't enjoy your experience! It can be so daunting as you imagine what the shoot will be like over and over in your head, apprehensive about being on the spot and you just know you will feel a little anxiety and insecurity upon arriving...Questions might be begrudgingly racing through your mind...Will I pull this off? Will I look/feel ridiculous? You mean I have to 'play dress up' and do this for mom for a whole hour? Believe me, I know the feeling. It's just awkward, so awkward! But what if I told you CAN discover how much fun posing in front of the camera can be and you CAN feel like a rock star doing it! Because the moment you step foot on location of your Senior portrait session with me, I make it a priority to be that photographer who genuinely cares about this time in your life. It's a beautiful, messy, fleeting experience, a bitter sweet season in your life that I want to capture on point in your images. I am that photographer that will let you step back and be you, that trusted friend who gives you the freedom to be silly, to be shy, to be serious! Because seriously guys, who wants to look and feel like they're smiling like Cheshire Cat or like grandma you caught off guard with her kodak wind-up? So, c'mon Seniors! Let me show you how FUN and easy this can be!
